Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team across multiple project locations in the United States. You will perform inspections, review contractor activities, and ensure adherence to plans, specifications, and quality control procedures.

This position requires reading construction plans, basic arithmetic, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• 0 years of experience; equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Travel frequency may be up to 20%–40% depending on duties and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials for highway projects under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and assess acceptance or rejection of work in accordance with Quality Control procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract provisions; measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and/or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
