Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a field technician to support inspectors in civil construction projects in North Carolina. The role emphasizes field data collection, testing, and coordination with engineers to ensure quality and compliance.

Candidates with an associate degree and data-entry skills, comfortable with outdoor conditions, and able to work independently or in a team, are encouraged to apply. The position requires safe driving and post-offer DOT evaluation.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent education/experience.
• At least two years of related experience encouraged.
• Knowledge of construction inspection and surveying concepts and theories.
• Experience planning, scheduling, and tracking projects with limited supervision.
• Ability to maintain neat, legible records and data entry on computer/iPad.
• Experience working in a team and customer service interactions with public.
• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle; safety toe shoes required.
• Completion of NCDOT post-offer employment evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Support technicians and engineers in construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, erosion control, and traffic control.
• Perform standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments.
• Compile, analyze, compute, edit, and process field data.
• Perform calculations and computations.
• Maintain accurate records and perform record keeping.
• Work under both inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Complete assignments independently or with limited supervision and in a team environment.
• Interact with the general public and provide customer service.
