Job summary

BLE in Waynesville, NC seeks a Special Inspections Technician I to support field testing of concrete, soil, and site materials under supervision of a licensed engineer. You will collect samples, observe earthwork and foundations, and prepare daily reports for the project engineer.

Ideal candidates are 18+, HS diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and able to work outdoors year-round. You must pursue required certifications within specified timelines after hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with clean history (3+ years).
• Able to work outdoors on construction sites in all weather.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication with teams and authorities.
• Detail-oriented and efficient with time.
• Basic knowledge of smartphones and computers (MS Office).
• Physically capable to stand/walk, lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must obtain Special Inspector General Certifications within 3 months and two more within 18 months (Concrete Codes 47C, Masonry 84C, Soils ECC).

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site testing and sampling of concrete, soil, and site materials.
• Monitor earthwork, foundation/subgrade evaluation, and structural elements.
• Accurately prepare daily reports for submission to the project engineer.
• Observe contractor activities and document detailed site observations.
• Collaborate with site managers and engineers under supervision of a registered professional engineer.
