Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Surveying Technician / Inspector I in the Sylva, NC office. You will adjust and operate surveying instruments, gather data for construction surveying, and support the survey team with routine tasks under supervision.

Work is field‑oriented (90% in the outdoors) with occasional office duties. A valid driver's license is required, and immigration sponsorship is not available except for TN visa eligibility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License Required.
• Experience with CAD is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Adjust and operate surveying instruments including theodolite and EDM.
• Gather and maintain data for construction surveying.
• Record survey measurements using notes, sketches, and tracings.
• Set out and recover stakes, marks, and monumentation.
• Maintain surveying equipment and vehicles.
