Job summary

Thompson Engineering invites applications for a Special Inspector with a focus on field inspections and materials testing across our southeastern projects. You will verify compliance with project specs, codes, and standards, while maintaining precise inspection records and reporting findings to project teams.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years in construction inspection, relevant ICC/ACI/AWS certifications, and the ability to read plans.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; degree preferred in engineering or construction management.
Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or materials testing experience.
Current ICC Special Inspection certifications and related tests.
Strong knowledge of IBC, ASTM, ACI, AWS standards and codes.
Ability to read/building plans and interpret specifications.

Responsibilities

Perform field and laboratory inspections of materials and activities (concrete, masonry, welding, soils, etc.).
Prepare detailed records of inspections, test results, and observations.
Interpret plans and codes to ensure project compliance.
Communicate findings with project managers, contractors, and engineers.
Maintain certifications and pursue ongoing education.
