Job summary

Terracon in San Antonio, TX seeks a Construction Inspector to perform field inspections of projects, ensuring compliance with codes and project specifications. You will read drawings, prepare reports, and communicate findings to engineers and project managers on a daily basis.

Required: high school diploma, 2-4 years as Engineering Technician or inspector, NICET Level II or ICC certifications, and a valid driver’s license. An Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology preferred.
• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience as an Engineering Technician or other applicable experience.
• 1 year experience in construction inspection preferred.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the Project Manager.
• Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspector and/or Project Managers.
• May assist more senior inspectors on projects.
• Maintains equipment and calibration.
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
