Job summary

Egis is seeking Construction Inspectors to support projects in CT, RI or MA. Inspectors will read plans, monitor daily activities, and ensure traffic control, measurements, and adherence to contracts. A BS degree and 0–2 years of DOT experience are preferred.

Applicants should have a vehicle, clean driving record, and be willing to work nights and weekends with hourly pay and overtime at 1.5x. Mileage reimbursement is provided for on-site travel. Sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or NICET.
• 0-2 years of Construction Inspection Experience; experience on DOT projects preferred.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends and swing shifts as required on assigned projects.
• Personal vehicle with valid driver's license and clean driving record; mileage reimbursement on-site.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret contract plans, specs, provisions, permits, shop drawings and working drawings.
• Monitor and report on daily contractor activities; ensure compliance with plans and documents.
• Ensure highway work zones and traffic control setups conform to contract requirements.
• Check lines, grades, dimensions and elevations using standard field measuring equipment.
• Measure and calculate quantities for payments to the contractor.
• Identify plan discrepancies to Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer and suggest solutions.
• Perform material testing on site and obtain samples as required.
