Job summary

Austin Commercial, an employee-owned division of Austin Industries, Inc., is seeking an Assistant Superintendent in its Austin, TX division. This role supports the assistant superintendent I and superintendent with day-to-day field activities on the jobsite.

Responsibilities include planning layouts, coordinating crews, ensuring safety, and managing inspections and documentation. OSHA-30 training is required within the first year; B.S. in construction management or related field preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in construction management or related field; equivalent experience accepted
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (required within first year)
• Entry level position

Responsibilities

• Reviews records: submittals, shop drawings, schematics to determine project scope and materials
• Assist with jobsite layout, security, utilities, crane positions, and material storage
• Direct field engineers in survey and layout; ensure correct elevations before foundation work
• Plan daily/weekly craft activities with schedules and foreman instructions
• Oversee safety program and enforce safety plans on site
• Order materials and small tools from approved suppliers
• Inspect field work for quality and adherence to plans
• Provide guidance to resolve site construction problems with architects/engineers
• Monitor labor costs and productivity; adjust team size and equipment as needed
• Track equipment use, maintenance, and cost
• Ensure compliance with laws and codes; coordinate inspections for occupancy
• Manage close-out tasks and demobilization; maintain daily activity reports
