Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking an Assistant Superintendent II to join the Austin, TX division. You will assist the superintendent in planning, coordinating and executing commercial construction projects with a focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

You will coordinate field operations, review submittals, manage on-site layouts, and supervise foremen. The role requires OSHA training and a BS in construction-related field, with 2+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• B.S. in construction management/science, engineering or related field; 2+ years of commercial construction experience or, in lieu of degree, 6+ years of trade experience.
• Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training (may obtain within first year)

Responsibilities

• Assists the superintendent by reviewing records, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine scope and resources.
• Plans site layout, startup activities, and material storage areas.
• Directs field engineers in initial survey and layout; ensures accuracy before foundation work begins.
• Plans daily/weekly activities for each craft and provides clear instructions for foremen.
• Supports safety program and enforces safety plans and procedures on site.
• Monitors weekly labor costs and takes corrective actions to improve productivity.
• Oversees equipment use, maintenance, and cost; ensures compliance with laws/codes.
• Coordinates inspections with owners/architects/engineers to obtain occupancy certificates.
