Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a Field Compression Engineer to provide technical expertise for natural gas compression equipment and ancillary systems. The role involves evaluating equipment performance, coordinating with vendors, and supporting field operations across various sites.

Requirements include a 4‑year engineering degree and 2+ years in compressor systems design/analysis. Occasional travel and strong safety and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• A 4‑year Engineering degree from an accredited school.
• Two years of practical post‑degree experience in the design and technical analysis of high pressure natural gas compressor systems.
• Specific knowledge in natural gas compression equipment and the mechanical design of gas compression equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to support mechanical needs for various customers.
• Aid in the specification of natural gas compression equipment to optimize performance, flexibility, long‑term reliability, ease of maintenance, and lifecycle costs.
• Establish vendor relationships as applies to equipment in the area.
• Travel up to 50% (overnight) to contractor or Kinder Morgan sites for mechanical support and meetings.
• Work with Operations in development of annual budgets for compression and ancillary equipment needs.
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, control, and instrumentation drawings (including P&IDs).
