Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a Field Compression Engineer to provide technical expertise for mechanical needs across customers, optimizing natural gas compression systems and equipment selections.

The role requires a 4-year engineering degree with practical experience in compressor systems, ability to read drawings (P&IDs), and willingness to travel up to 50% for site support and meetings. Opportunities exist across refinery, manufacturing, railroad or pipeline environments.

Qualifications

• 4-year Engineering degree from an accredited school.
• Two years practical experience in design and technical analysis of high pressure natural gas compressor systems.
• Knowledge of natural gas compression equipment and the mechanical design of gas compression equipment.
• Proficiency in basic PC operations.
• Familiarity with reading electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to support mechanical needs for various customers.
• Aid in the specification of natural gas compression equipment based on operating conditions to optimize performance, reliability, and lifecycle costs.
• Establish vendor relationships related to equipment in the area.
• Travel up to 50% to contractor or Kinder Morgan sites for mechanical support and meetings.
• Develop annual budgets with Operations for compression equipment needs.
