Job summary

AD Energy Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Commissioning Engineer to lead the delivery, start-up and handover of complex industrial systems across North America. You will work closely with engineering, construction and automation teams to ensure safe, reliable operation and thorough testing.

The role covers pre-commissioning through SAT, performance testing and final turnover, with visibility across renewable energy, waste-to-energy and industrial process projects.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of relevant industrial experience, including hands-on commissioning, start-up and/or operations exposure.
• Strong industrial engineering background.
• Knowledge across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation systems.
• Practical experience with loop checks, I/O checks, functional testing and equipment checkout.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, electrical drawings and control schematics.

Responsibilities

• Support development and execution of commissioning plans, procedures, schedules, checklists and test protocols.
• Help develop commissioning strategy with project management, engineering, construction and automation teams.
• Coordinate and execute on-site activities from pre-commissioning through start-up, SAT, performance testing and handover.
• Verify mechanical completion and ensure systems are ready before commissioning begins.
• Carry out equipment inspections, checkout, calibration verification, loop checks and functional testing.
• Perform dry and wet commissioning across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation and process systems.
• Support testing and start-up of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment, instrumentation, process and control-system issues; support corrective actions.
