Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of protection and control systems.

The role includes end-to-end testing of relays, RTUs, and communication schemes across multiple sites in the US, with extensive travel. Responsibilities include safety leadership, JHA participation, and documenting test results for client reporting and regulatory purposes.

Qualifications

• Candidate has 4+ years in electrical testing with protection and control equipment.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with transmission and distribution relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse).
• Familiarity with test equipment and software (RTS, ProTest, Protection Suite).
• Ability to develop commissioning test plans and perform end-to-end relay testing.

Responsibilities

• Promote safe working practices and human performance improvement.
• Lead or participate in Job Hazard Analysis daily.
• Install, commission, test and maintain protective relay equipment and RTU systems.
• Perform functional testing of protection and control circuitry.
• Test end-to-end communication aided tripping schemes and fiber/powerline carrier systems.
• Calibrate relays from GE, Westinghouse/ABB, SEL.
• Document and submit detailed test reports for clients/regulatory use.
