Job summary

The City of College Station is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to support the municipal code enforcement program and educate residents about city regulations. You will inspect premises, enforce health, safety and zoning codes, and prepare cases for court as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Texas driver’s license, and certification as a Code Enforcement Officer or the ability to obtain within 18 months. Evening/weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Registered Code Enforcement Officer Certification, or able to obtain within 18 months of hire.
  • Shift may include evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce health, safety, nuisance, traffic, and zoning ordinances; inspect premises for compliance.
  • Receive and respond to complaints, investigations, and actions; provide resolution recommendations.
  • Provide customer information on codes and negotiate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain records on all violations, investigations, inspections and actions.
  • Prepare cases and testify in Municipal Court as needed.
  • Monitor enforcement cases to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct public education forums and use GIS to analyze data and generate maps/reports.
