Job summary

The City of Trotwood is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to enforce residential and commercial property maintenance and zoning ordinances. This role reports to the Planning and Development Director and requires strong public interaction and computer record-keeping.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, proficiency in Word/Excel, excellent communication, and experience with field work or building inspection is preferred. Salary range: $25.86–$35.66 per hour with paid overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience in code enforcement, building inspection, or public-facing roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce residential and commercial property maintenance and zoning ordinances.
• Maintain active caseload from intake to closure with timely updates in the system.
• Communicate code requirements to property owners and tenants; de-escalate when needed.
• Prepare notices of violation and documents for potential hearings or court proceedings.
