Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company is seeking a Civil Engineering Construction Internship to work on a broad range of projects. You will be responsible for daily inspection and documentation of infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on field experience with our civil construction team.

The role is field-based, with travel to project sites and assignments from Novi, MI; Marquette, MI; or Grand Rapids, MI offices. Driving record checks are required for consideration.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or related engineering curriculum is required.
• Experience working on field projects is desired.
• Exposure to ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work within budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and assure the project supervisor of budget and schedule adequacy.
• Perform construction observation and follow project procedures.
• Maintain a field book per project procedures.
• Measure construction work and calculate pay item quantities.
• Prepare Inspector's Daily Reports and other project docs as required.
• Report progress and issues to the project supervisor.
