Job summary

The NYS Office of General Services is seeking an experienced professional to supervise and inspect building construction projects. This field-based role requires coordinating contractors and multiple trades to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Responsibilities include conducting inspections, reviewing shop drawings, monitoring progress, and preparing contract changes. The position supports project meetings, records, and payments while guiding inspection

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Professional Engineer license and current registration.
• Qualifying bachelor’s degree in listed engineering disciplines or higher.
• One year of qualifying engineering experience if licensed and registered per the NY HELPS criteria.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect building construction projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Coordinate contractors and multiple trades to ensure contract compliance with drawings, specs and schedules.
• Perform field inspections and review workmanship, materials, and testing for contract compliance.
• Monitor progress, identify delays, and coordinate corrective actions with contractors.
• Review shop drawings and other construction documentation for completeness and contract compliance.
• Prepare contract changes, field/change orders, and time extensions.
• Conduct project meetings and maintain project records and inspection documentation.
• Review payment applications and verify quantities prior to payment recommendations.
• Assist with substantial completion, final inspections, turnover, and warranty activities.
• Provide direction to inspection staff and review their reports.
