Job summary

The NYS Office of General Services is seeking a field-based Inspector/Engineer to supervise and inspect building construction projects of moderate size. You will coordinate contractors, review drawings and specifications, and manage documentation for contract compliance.

The role involves frequent travel and direct oversight of inspection staff. Minimum qualifications include passing the FE examination and holding a qualifying engineering degree, with at least one year of full-time engineering

Qualifications

• Pass the NCEES FE Examination (FE) and hold a qualifying engineering degree.
• One year of full-time engineering experience in electrical systems or related field.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect building construction projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Coordinate the work of contractors and multiple trades to ensure contract compliance.
• Review drawings, product data, submittals, and other documentation for contract compliance.
• Prepare, review, and recommend contract changes and change orders.
• Conduct project meetings and maintain project records and inspection documentation.
• Assist with substantial completion, final inspections, and project turnover.
