Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist I to work at customer sites, indoors and outdoors, ensuring safety standards and proper packaging of materials per regulations. You will help with hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste removal while maintaining updated documentation.

The role involves assisting with waste sampling, characterization, and on-site operations, with travel to customer locations and interaction with customers and team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or environmental science or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of Federal and State Environmental and Transportation regulations (DOT and RCRA preferred).
• Ability to perform proper waste sampling and create accurate waste characterizations.
• -Proficient communication skills to read, analyze, and interpret general documentation and regulations.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations and interact professionally with customers and team.

Responsibilities

• Collect, characterize & package customer waste for final disposal.
• Assist in safely transporting customer waste per Federal regulations.
• Help with customer paperwork: packing lists, waste labels, shipping documents.
• Provide onsite support at customer locations (inspections, waste collection, inventory management, etc.).
• Collaborate with team to identify contents via sampling tests (Field Screens).
