Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist I to operate at indoor and outdoor sites, ensuring safety standards and proper waste packaging per regulations. You will maintain documentation and support hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste removal services.

You will collect and characterize waste for disposal, assist with shipping paperwork, and support field operations such as inspections, inventory, and outbound shipments.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of chemistry principles and practices.
• Valid driver's license and MVR that meets policy.
• Ability to pass respirator fit test.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs or more.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (8-hour refresher) or ability to pass upon hire.
• Understanding of Federal and State environmental and transportation regulations.
• DOT and RCRA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, characterize & package customer waste for final disposal.
• Assist in safely transporting customer waste in accordance with federal regulations.
• Assist with customer paperwork including packing lists, waste labels & shipping documents.
• Provide onsite support at customer locations including inspections, waste collection, inventory management, and outbound shipments.
• Collaborate with team to identify suspected contents via field screening and categorization tests.
