Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector for our CEI team to support highway construction projects at multiple U.S. locations. You will inspect work, verify compliance with plans and specifications, and document results for project success.

The role requires on-site work, strong knowledge of materials and methods in highway construction, and the ability to communicate clearly in English. Travel up to 40% is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Intermediate knowledge of arithmetic.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new applications.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to ensure materials and construction meet plans, specs, and provisions.
• Use specialized equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to knowledge and assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
