Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking a Field Inspector to join our Transportation CEI team. You will inspect and monitor highway construction activities at project sites, analyze plans, and ensure compliance with specifications. Travel 20%–40% is expected across listed locations and perhaps beyond.

This on-site role requires strong communication, math skills, and the ability to read drawings. A HS diploma plus relevant certifications and a valid driver's license are required, with 6 years

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• NICET/ACI earthwork, asphalt or concrete certifications may be required by client/jurisdiction.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 6 years of related experience; equivalent additional experience considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency varies by project.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate material use and conformance with plans and provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Work under supervision appropriate to assignment based on knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
