Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group on-site at multiple project locations. You will inspect roadway, bridge, drainage and related construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and contract provisions.

This on-site position requires reading plans, using construction equipment and performing complex calculations under varying supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET where required by the client/jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to evaluate materials and processes meet plans, specs.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for construction inspection.
• Work under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
