Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to inspect and monitor construction activities at multiple project locations. The role requires reading and interpreting plans, performing complex calculations, and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and provisions; travel up to 40% may be required.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant certifications, a valid driver’s license, and 6 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Travel may be required domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes against plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspections.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection and understand the design being inspected.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
• Work under supervision appropriate to your demonstrated knowledge for the assignment.
