Job summary

CDM Smith's Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team seeks a field Inspector to monitor and inspect construction at project sites. The role requires understanding materials, methods, and equipment used in highway work, and the ability to read plans, drawings, and contract provisions.

Travel to multiple sites will be required and supervision varies by assignment. The ideal candidate will perform complex inspections, calculate results, review drawings, and clearly document

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex and routine inspections of construction to verify materials and processes meet plans, specs and provisions.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspection.
• Works under supervision appropriate to assignment difficulty.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Documenting inspection results and communicating them to the supervisor.
