Job summary

UES is seeking a Building Inspector I to perform on-site inspections, verify code compliance, and promote safe, high-quality construction practices.

You will work with contractors, engineers, and project managers, documenting findings with observations and photos, and staying current with evolving codes and safety standards. Travel up to 70% is required; valid driver’s license and ability to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; active Building Inspector License required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to travel to job sites.
• ICC or equivalent certifications preferred or willingness to obtain within timeframe.
• Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection software.
• Ability to read and analyze blueprints, plans, specifications, procedures, and reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of independent and team work.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site inspections and verify code compliance.
• Document findings with observations, photos, and reports.
• Identify code violations and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct follow-up inspections after corrective actions.
• Review plans, permits, and reports for compliance.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and clients.
• Travel to project sites across varying terrains.
• Stay current with evolving building codes and safety standards.
