Job summary

UES is seeking a Threshold Inspector to examine buildings, structures, and construction projects to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes. You will perform inspections at various stages to verify materials, workmanship, and safety.

Responsibilities include on-site inspections, documenting deviations, coordinating with engineers, and staying updated on code changes. Travel within Florida up to 40% and occasional weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; welding certificate program or vocational training preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience in materials testing or inspections
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with reporting tools
• Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical documents.
• Certification in inspection-related fields (ACI, ICC, etc.) preferred but not required at hire

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of buildings and construction projects at different phases of development
• Evaluate structural components, materials, foundations and systems to ensure compliance with building codes and standards
• Verify that construction practices align with approved plans and specifications
• Identify and document deviations from regulations and recommend corrective actions
• Maintain detailed inspection records, including photographs, reports, and notes
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports outlining findings, observations, and deficiencies
• Communicate inspection results effectively to managers as necessary
• Travel within Florida as required
• Collaborate with engineers and other construction professionals to address compliance issues
• Complete daily time and labor reports promptly
