Job summary

WSP is seeking a full-time Biologist for our Earth and Environment Sector – North Mountain Environmental Impact Assessment and Permitting group, serving the North Mountain region across MT, WY, CO, UT, ID, OR, and WA. The role demands independent work and teamwork, with a history of botanical and wildlife surveys and wetland inventories preferred.

The ideal candidate will conduct and manage biological field surveys across avian, wildlife, vegetation, wetlands, and sensitive species,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or other related field.
  • 3–5 years of prior consulting work, ideally with linear corridor projects (pipelines/transmission).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with USFWS, BLM, USFS, and state-agency survey requirements.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Substantial biological field survey knowledge.
  • Must be able to work in remote conditions and independently or in a survey team.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willing and able to travel regionally and potentially across the U.S.
  • Proven track record of workplace safety and policy compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support and help build the environmental project team on transmission lines, fire hardening, renewable energy, pipelines, transportation projects, surveys, NEPA analyses and permitting services.
  • Conduct biological field surveys across the North Mountain Region (Montana/Wyoming/Colorado/Utah/Idaho/Oregon).
  • Survey for rare plants and threatened, endangered, and sensitive wildlife species.
  • Assist with wetland and biological surveys, permitting, and documentation.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
