Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools in Alabama is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support instructional delivery and learning experiences for students in our special education program. The role involves assisting teachers in planning and implementing learning activities, maintaining student records, and helping with transportation-related support on buses.

Candidates should be able to work in a dynamic, sometimes demanding environment and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or 48 semester hours or ACT WorkKeys passing score.
Meets suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
Demonstrated success in relevant work experience.
Ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment.
Proficiency in oral and written communication with students, parents and others.
Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

Presents lessons or portions of lessons to students; checks work and assigns additional tasks.
Assists students with books, computers, and classroom materials.
Maintains routine records related to attendance, grades, and behavior.
Transfers students on/off buses; assists with mobility and positioning for students with special needs.
Assists with toileting support, feeding, and basic health tasks as directed.
