Job summary

ERM is hiring a Lead Environmental Compliance Manager (Owner’s Advisor) to serve as the owner’s environmental representative for hyperscale data center construction across Texas and neighboring states. This role follows environmental due diligence and initial permitting and translates permit conditions into effective field practices.

Work with project managers, CM, and contractors to identify risks, conduct environmental audits, and drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Science, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years environmental experience, including large construction/capital projects.
• Experience as owner‑side environmental leader balancing field checks with program oversight.
• Knowledge of stormwater, spill prevention, waste management, air and dust controls.

Responsibilities

• Provide owner‑side environmental compliance leadership across projects and ensure alignment with requirements.
• Establish a project‑specific environmental compliance framework and interfaces for CM and contractor execution.
• Maintain field presence to verify controls align with plans and permit obligations.
• Perform quality checks of inspections and documentation; ensure cadence and effectiveness.
• Coach CM and contractor teams on findings and corrective actions without direct authority.
• Identify and prioritize environmental risks; recommend mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to development and improvement of environmental plans and procedures.
• Collaborate with client SMEs and permitting resources to align with conditions and reporting.
• Develop and communicate environmental performance metrics to leadership.
• Lead environmental incident investigations and containment actions.
• Coordinate waste handling, profiling, storage, and disposal practices.
• Support chemical inventory management and regulatory reporting with clear ownership.
• Serve as a primary contact for environmental questions amid scope changes or site conditions.
• Support readiness for startup by integrating environmental requirements into transition plans.
