Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a field inspector to support road and bridge construction oversight in the Norfolk area. You will inspect materials, measurements and workmanship, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications.

Early‑career applicants with basic math, plan reading, and teamwork skills will thrive. Some night shifts and travel around active work zones are expected as part of the role.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience.
• High school/GED.
• Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures.
• Demonstrate basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Possess the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently.
• Work effectively as a team member and complete daily reports by hand and computer.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor field activities on active highways and bridges.
• Ensure work complies with drawings, specs, and standards (VDOT/ACI).
• Take field measurements and record production/test results.
• Perform materials testing and prepare lab specimens (cylinders).
• Document daily reports and coordinate with QC leads and senior inspectors.
• Identify deficiencies and communicate findings to contractors.
