Job summary

May Mobility is seeking a Site Autonomy Engineer to directly support live autonomous fleets at designated sites in Ann Arbor, Michigan. You will collaborate with electromechanical and software teams to ensure successful launches and safe autonomous operation.

You will work hands-on with vehicle systems, execute on-site calibrations, maintenance, and testing, and help deploy May’s autonomy technology across sites while upholding safety standards and rider comfort.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Linux computing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical schematics.
• Safety-first approach to all work.
• Knowledge of wire harnesses and basic subsystems.
• Ability to debug and modify mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical systems.
• Systems-level thinking and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with GitHub or GitLab (or ability to learn).
• Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform vehicle upfits to support fleet upgrades and initiatives.
• Debug electrical and mechanical issues on vehicles.
• Perform on-site sensor calibrations and testing of feature improvements.
• Build and maintain local mapping assets for May Mobility.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on May vehicles.
• Record issues and resolutions and escalate as needed.
• Assist in testing autonomous operation to meet safety and rider comfort standards.
• Implement hardware changes in the field for safe return to service.
• Communicate issues and successes to the engineering team and drive resolutions.
• Perform data acquisition using the vehicle sensor suite.
• Coordinate on-site deployment of autonomous technology in designated locations.
• Support fleet cleanliness and demo readiness.
• Other duties as assigned.
