Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Johnson Creek, WI, seeks a Lead Field Automation Specialist to service and program industrial automation systems. This on-site and field-based role involves designing control software across PLC/HMI platforms, diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical issues, and coordinating with clients to keep production lines running.

You will work with FANUC, UR cobots, and Ignition SCADA in a mature, growth-focused environment that values autonomy, mentorship, and work-life balance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years electro-mechanical maintenance in industrial settings.
• 2+ years multi-platform PLC/HMI programming experience.
• High-level expertise in panel wiring, schematics, and power distribution.
• Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Open to candidates without a diploma if hands-on experience, or AS degree in automation.
• Must reside within a 45-minute drive of Johnson Creek, WI; U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.

Responsibilities

• Lead Field Maintenance & Commissioning across Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois using an assigned company vehicle.
• Design and program control software across major PLC/HMI platforms.
• Perform on-site diagnostics of electrical and control systems, including VFDs and safety interlocks.
• Service fluid power systems: hydraulic/pneumatic components and mechanical drives.
• Install, commission, and retrofit automation machinery, including panels and safety devices.
• Provide on-site client support, translating schematics to resolve issues quickly.
