Job summary

Foundation for Affordable Housing seeks an Associate Asset Manager to oversee a large multifamily portfolio and support asset management activities across properties in the western United States. The role focuses on inspections, reporting, and coordinating with property teams to maintain high-quality, affordable housing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in real estate, affordable housing, property management, finance, construction, or related field; affordable housing or multifamily experience helpful but not required.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high volume of properties, reports, deadlines, and follow-up items.
• Ability to assess property conditions objectively, identify concerns, exercise sound judgment, and determine escalation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for inspection reports and stakeholder collaboration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business applications.
• Ability to travel frequently, including multi-day trips.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site visits across a portfolio of 200+ affordable housing communities, inspecting exteriors, grounds, common areas, and units.
• Evaluate property condition, maintenance, life-safety, and capital needs.
• Meet with property management to discuss operations and outstanding issues; document with photos.
• Prepare clear inspection reports; communicate findings and track follow-up to resolution.
• Maintain accurate property files, inspection records, and reporting databases.
• Coordinate with managers, lenders, agencies, and internal teams to collect requested information.
• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual property reporting and operating statements.
• Review property-level financial and operating reports as requested.
