Job summary

Stantec seeks an Archaeology Technician to provide on-call field support on a project basis in Texas. This role involves data collection and analysis for multiple field programs, including Section 106/NEPA studies for a range of federal, state, and local clients in the region.

The position requires outdoor work in remote locations, the ability to travel, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in archaeology/anthropology or closely related field; bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience with field methods and data collection for archaeological surveys.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Perform shovel-test excavation, pedestrian survey, and monitoring.
• Record soils using color, texture, and inclusions; use maps and GPS for data collection.
• Map site plans and shovel tests; document units and features in plan and profile.
• Identify artifacts and cultural features following standard procedures.
• Assist with laboratory tasks when indoor work is available.
