Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks Cultural Resources Technicians to support field-based cultural resource management across the Southeast. You will assist crew chiefs, conduct surveying and testing, and support data collection on diverse projects, with substantial travel and 40-hour weeks.

Opportunity for advancement within SWCA; field assignments are temporary through April 2027, with per diem and lodging arrangements. Travel up to 100% is expected in this role.

Qualifications

• Accredited Field School Certification.
• Willing to travel and perform fieldwork for extended periods.
• Able to carry equipment up to 40 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license required to operate 4WD vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete archaeological surveying and field testing.
• Conduct shovel test pits and excavation units.
• Execute data recovery and associated field recording.
• Complete field forms, digital photography, and in-field mapping.
• Assist with archaeological office and lab work.
• Participate in GPS data collection in the field under supervision.
• Adhere to the safety program and communicate safety hazards.
