Job summary

GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Cultural Resources Technician 2 to support field projects in the Southwestern region. Responsibilities include excavating, recording artifacts, washing samples for lab analysis, and performing field and lab tasks per federal/state standards.

The role requires a B.A./B.S. in archaeology/anthropology, 1–3 years CRM experience, strong communication, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field; field school preferred.
• 1–3 years CRM experience in North America preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and own transportation preferred.
• Experience in field excavation techniques, artifact identification, data recording, mapping, surveying.

Responsibilities

• Excavate, screen, and collect archaeological materials per federal/state standards.
• Identify and record archaeological features within project areas.
• Document and map survey areas, testing locations, excavations, and resources.
• Complete field forms, notes, and diagrams accurately.
• Record soil color using a Munsell chart; use compass for navigation.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and carry gear as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
