Job summary

GAI Consultants Inc. seeks a Cultural Resources Technician 2 to support field projects in the Southwestern region. You will identify, excavate, and record sites, wash artifacts for lab analysis, and assist with lab tasks following federal/state standards.

Requirements include a BA/BS in archaeology or related field, 1–3 years CRM experience, and willingness to travel. Travel and fieldwork across the Southwest with safety and teamwork at the core.

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field; field school preferred.
• 1–3 years CRM experience in North America.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and independent transportation preferred.
• Experience in field excavation techniques, artifact identification, data recording, mapping and surveying.
• Experience in CRM fieldwork in NM and surrounding states preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow health and safety policies per GAI, client, and OSHA.
• Excavate, screen, and collect archaeological materials per standards.
• Record features and structures within project areas.
• Document and map survey areas, testing locations, and sites.
• Complete field forms accurately (paper/electronic).
• Use a compass and basic navigation within project vicinity.
• Work outdoors in varying weather; hike 8–10 miles/day with gear.
