Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Gorham, ME invites applications for an Arborist Trainee Internship beginning Spring–Summer 2027. This on-site internship provides field experience alongside seasoned arborists and plant health care professionals.

You will learn tree pruning, cabling, installation, and safe equipment use with a focus on customer service and growing industry skills. The program includes hands-on training, opportunities across nationwide service lines, and potential year-round

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture.
• Love of the outdoors and safety-conscious work ethic.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in field environments.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor by working with experienced arborists.
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Assist with tree and landscape installation.
• Safely operate equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
• Participate in Plant Health Care tasks like deep root fertilization and pest management.
• Engage in client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals.
