About Biomodal

Join the multiomic revolution! Over the last 20 years, genomic technologies have enabled significant discoveries that bring the promise of personalised medicine closer than ever before. But after two decades of research, it's clear that genetic variation only tells part of the story – biology is dynamic and more complex than A, C, T, G. Already, the added information from a multiomic view of biology is yielding important insights into cancer, ageing, and neurological disease, and is poised to revolutionise how we understand health and disease beyond canonical variation in DNA.

Already, the added information from a multiomic view of biology is yielding important insights into cancer, ageing, and neurological disease, and is poised to revolutionise how we understand health and disease beyond canonical variation in DNA.

biomodal is an omics-based life sciences technology and analytics company, delivering products that bring the dynamism of our ever-changing biology into focus. Our team is dedicated to developing the most advanced solutions to interrogate and understand the complex interplay of genomics and epigenomics.

We have launched our first products, the duet +modC and duet evoC solutions, with more in the pipeline, and are looking to grow and evolve our business accordingly. This is an incredible opportunity to step into an exciting, early-stage company at the cutting edge of science with exceptional growth and market impact potential.

Multiomics is the future – come and join the biomodal team!

The team

World-leading researchers are working with us to demonstrate the utility of our current products and crystalising requirements for future products. We are rapidly expanding and evolving our workforce to support our early access customers and are preparing for broader customer adoption and new customer collaborations.

You will be working closely with both the commercial and scientific groups within biomodal to drive early adoption of our technologies through collaboration with academic and commercial scientists. The team leverages its knowledge of epigenetics, genomics, NGS sample preparation and data analysis to ultimately match our platform capabilities with our customer's requirements. As such, the team forms the vital link between our potential customer pool and our product development activities, requiring a great blend of technical, communication and commercial skills.

The role

This is a great opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of genomics and omics-based technology that wants to use their knowledge in a different shape of role. Here you will be working with other scientists helping them get the best out of biomodal's technology and using the knowledge gleaned from this to inform our product development activities. If you have a deep understanding of NGS protocols and perhaps feel a career in the lab is not for you, then this may be what you're looking for.

The biomodal Field Applications Scientist (FAS) is responsible for providing best in class training, technical support, and consultation to customers. In this role you will manage the end-to-end biomodal workflow by meeting and working directly with customers.

Through close customer relationships you will serve as the scientific advisor of the company, liaising between our customers and biomodal's Sales and Marketing team.

FAS responsibilities will be remote and on customer site, providing pre- and post-sales support associated with complex inquiries and requests, such as (but not limited to):

  • Troubleshooting customer complaints related to biochemistry, assay or experimental design and software. Escalate to the appropriate internal resources as necessary to maximize customer uptime and minimize customer effort.
  • Provide advice and support to customers in the field of bioinformatics, with a focus on genomics data analysis, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, and high-throughput data management.
  • Support commercial efforts through technical presentations, seminars, and customer engagement.
  • Working with the assigned Territory Account Manager (TAM) to strategize and expand biomodal footprint in the field.

The FAS role necessitates a high degree of independence with success being measured by the positive experiences and continued scientific successes of our customers.

The person

  • MS or PhD with proven genomic and epigenomic experience.
  • Working knowledge of sequencing applications and methods that apply to short-reads technology.
  • Working experience using NGS library preparation and next generation sequence analysis tools.
  • Experience supporting software installation and troubleshooting (preferred)
  • Prior field experience supporting customers in a highly technical field.
  • Capacity to interact with principal investigator-level scientists as well as bioinformaticians and laboratory personnel.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and superior presentation and training skills.
  • Previous experience with CRM tools (SFDC) highly preferred
  • Ability to operate as an independent contributor and as a cooperative member of a team.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Ability to successfully operate in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Willing to travel to various locations for executing trainings and any customer supports (>50%).

This role would be ideal for a commercially minded scientist who wants to be part of a collaborative team, trail-blazing a new product line that is promises to disrupt the DNA sequencing landscape.
