Job description

About Biomodal

Join the multiomic revolution! Over the last 20 years, genomic technologies have enabled significant discoveries that bring the promise of personalised medicine closer than ever before. But after two decades of research, it's clear that genetic variation only tells part of the story – biology is dynamic and more complex than A, C, T, G. Already, the added information from a multiomic view of biology is yielding important insights into cancer, ageing, and neurological disease, and is poised to revolutionise how we understand health and disease beyond canonical variation in DNA.

Biomodal is an omics-based life sciences technology and analytics company, delivering products that bring the dynamism of our ever-changing biology into focus. Our team is dedicated to developing the most advanced solutions to interrogate and understand the complex interplay of genomics and epigenomics.

We have launched our first products, the duet +modC and duet evoC solutions, with more in the pipeline, and are looking to grow and evolve our business accordingly. This is an incredible opportunity to step into an exciting, early-stage company at the cutting edge of science with exceptional growth and market impact potential.

Multiomics is the future – come and join the biomodal team!

The team

World-leading researchers are working with us to demonstrate the utility of our current products and crystallise requirements for future products. We are rapidly expanding and evolving our workforce to support our early access customers and are preparing for broader customer adoption and new collaborations.

You will be working closely with both the commercial and scientific groups within biomodal to drive early adoption of our technologies through collaboration with academic and commercial scientists. The team leverages its knowledge of epigenetics, genomics, NGS sample preparation, and data analysis to match our platform capabilities with our customer's requirements. The team acts as a vital link between potential customers and our product development, requiring a blend of technical, communication, and commercial skills.

The role

This is a great opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of genomics and omics-based technology who wants to utilize their knowledge in a different role. You will work with other scientists to help them optimize biomodal's technology and use insights gained to inform product development. If you have extensive knowledge of NGS protocols and are considering a career shift from laboratory work, this may be ideal for you.

The biomodal Field Applications Scientist (FAS) is responsible for providing top-tier training, technical support, and consultation to customers. You will manage the end-to-end workflow by working directly with customers.

Through close customer relationships, you will serve as the company's scientific advisor, liaising between customers and biomodal's Sales and Marketing teams.

FAS responsibilities include remote and on-site support for complex inquiries, such as:

  • Troubleshooting customer complaints related to biochemistry, assays, experimental design, or software, escalating issues as needed.
  • Providing advice on bioinformatics, genomics data analysis, NGS data analysis, and high-throughput data management.
  • Supporting commercial efforts through technical presentations, seminars, and customer engagement.
  • Working with the Territory Account Manager to strategize and expand biomodal's market presence.

The role requires a high degree of independence, with success measured by positive customer experiences and scientific outcomes.

The person
  • MS or PhD with proven experience in genomics and epigenomics.
  • Knowledge of sequencing applications and short-read technologies.
  • Experience with NGS library preparation and analysis tools.
  • Experience supporting software installation and troubleshooting (preferred).
  • Prior field experience supporting technically complex customers.
  • Ability to interact effectively with principal investigators, bioinformaticians, and lab personnel.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills.
  • Experience with CRM tools like SFDC (highly preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel (>50%) for training and customer support.

This role suits a scientifically skilled, commercially minded individual eager to be part of a collaborative team launching a disruptive new product line.

Benefits
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Generous 401K plan
  • Private healthcare for self and family
  • 20 days annual leave
  • Life insurance
  • Car allowance
  • Home office allowance
