Job summary

Realm is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to serve as the technical lead for customer integrations, onsite deployment, and translating real-world needs into scalable solutions. The role emphasizes hands-on field work, prototyping, and close collaboration with engineering to ensure product reliability in demanding industrial and government environments.

You will embed with users, validate assumptions, and help the team ship impactful tools while traveling onsite with customers across the US.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering or forward deployed experience and shipping impactful work.
• Strong fluency to work with engineers and build prototypes.
• Low ego, high EQ, collaborative instincts for Realm.
• Experience with enterprise, industrial, gov, or security-critical products.
• Strong coding, CS fundamentals, and problem-solving.
• Proficiency with Git and Linux environments.
• Ability to lead cross-functional problem solving and drive projects.
• Comfort in ambiguous environments and ability to prioritize.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for diverse stakeholders.
• Data-informed decision making and rapid prototyping skills.
• Hands-on prototyping and AI-assisted coding; quick real-solution building.
• Grit to move fast and attention to detail.
• Based in US, citizen or permanent resident preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own integrations and onsite deployment work for customers.
• Prototype tools and integrations in the field to validate ideas.
• Troubleshoot complex operational or systems issues in field environments.
• Translate field insights into technical requirements for engineering.
• Lead all technical integration work including APIs and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering to align features with real-world needs.
• Represent customer realities and feasibility internally.
• Decompose real-world problems into defined technical workstreams.
• Enable smooth deployment, data flow, connectivity, and reliability for customers.
• Provide field observations to product/engineering and advocate for changes.
• Support pre-sales by onsite demonstrations of product value.
• Contribute to building Realm's forward deployed engineering function.
