Job summary

IdeaTek is seeking a Fiber & Wireless Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot, and repair fiber and VoIP services in Parsons, KS and surrounding areas. You will climb towers, splice fiber, and operate bucket trucks in outdoor environments while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires 2+ years in a field-based technical role, a valid driver’s license, and on-call availability, with a focus on delivering reliable internet to communities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of field-based technical experience in splicing, installation, or related low-voltage work.
• Tower climbing experience or willingness to learn.
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions and ability to pass DOT physical.
• On-call rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to differentiate colors.
• Capable of lifting up to 80 lbs.
• Able to operate bucket truck up to 300 lbs weight limit.
• Experience in underground and aerial fiber environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic cable splicing, repairs, and plant construction in outdoor environments.
• Deliver and maintain wireless services, aligning internet dishes and receivers.
• Complete pre-install inspections and testing on wireless towers; climb for installation/repair.
• Handle service repairs and service drops to ensure reliable fiber delivery.
• Service and repair VoIP systems for residential and business customers.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and document splicing schematics and notes.
• Maintain safety and quality standards on roofs, poles, towers, ladders, or bucket trucks.
