Job summary

Viaero Fiber Networks is hiring a Utility Locator to identify and mark underground fiber routes in the Columbus, NE region. You will use electromagnetic locators, take clear photos of markings, and log notes in our system while coordinating with project managers.

Ideal candidates are 21+, with a clean driving record, able to work outdoors in all weather, and capable of learning new devices and regulations. The role requires physical activity and occasional on‑call shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
• Able to learn new locating devices and applicable regulations.
• Able to walk 3–5 miles daily and carry equipment.
• Must be available for on‑call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities using locating equipment and mark the location clearly.
• Flag and document detected utilities with accuracy for excavation crews.
• Record location data and notes in field documentation systems.
• Perform pre‑construction site assessments and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Communicate with contractors and project managers about utility locations and risks.
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment.
