Socket Fiber in Columbia, Missouri is seeking a skilled Utilities Locator to join our growing team. This role locates underground utility lines for fiber plant expansion, marks locations, documents work, and coordinates with involved parties.

You may be on-call and will work overtime as needed to support project deadlines. The ideal candidate has GIS/GPS knowledge, safety discipline, ability to operate locating equipment, and strong communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GIS and GPS technology.
• Adherence to safety protocols.
• Ability to use mechanical and electrical equipment for locating utilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Detailed documentation.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Visual acuity and color differentiation.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utility lines.
• Mark locations with stakes, flags, or paint.
• Document completion and issues encountered.
• Manage workload independently and route tasks accordingly.
• Operate and maintain locating equipment.
• Communicate updates to designated parties.
• Maintain a clean driving record and license.
• Work comfortably in varying elements and terrain.
• Attend to other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain regular attendance.
