Job summary

Viaero Fiber in Columbus, Nebraska is seeking a utility locator to identify and mark underground fiber optic lines and protect our network during excavations.

You will locate utilities with field equipment, record data, and communicate findings to contractors and project managers while following safety standards.

This on-site role requires outdoor work, a valid driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to be on a rotating on-call schedule including holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience locating and marking underground utilities.
• Ability to read maps, blueprints, and use Google Earth.
• Walk long distances outdoors and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR; capable of passing drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Locate utilities with specialized equipment and pinpoint their locations.
• Mark and flag detected utilities for excavation crews.
• Record location data, depth and observations in field systems.
• Perform pre-construction site assessments and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Communicate locations and risks to contractors and project managers.
• Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE.
