Socket Fiber in Columbia, MO is seeking a skilled Utilities Locator to identify and map underground utility lines for our fiber expansion. You will use GPS/GIS tech, stakes, flags, and paint to mark locations and ensure safe, compliant work, with potential on-call shifts.

The role requires physical work, lifting up to 75 lbs, driving, and independent workload management. We value safety, accurate documentation, and clear communication with crews and landowners; overtime may apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GIS and GPS technology
• Adherence to safety protocols
• Ability to use mechanical and electrical equipment involved with locating utilities
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Detailed documentation
• The ability to lift up to 75lbs
• Visual acuity and the ability to differentiate between colors

Responsibilities

• Locating underground utility lines
• Use stakes, flags, and/or paint to mark location
• Document completion and any problems
• Ability to route and manage your own workload independently
• Operate and maintain equipment
• Communicate with designated parties on updates and corrections
• Able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 75lbs
• Ability to maintain a clean driving record and driver’s license
• Being comfortable with working in varying elements
• Ability to navigate rugged terrain
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
