Job summary

Hardy Industries seeks skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our nationwide client base. You will perform fusion/mechanical splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber certification while troubleshooting network impairments in diverse field environments.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of Fiber/IT/Telecom experience or 5+ years in the field, with certifications such as FOA, CFOT, BICSI, or Network+. A 1099 contractor position offers on-site hourly pay and travel compensation nationwide.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to: fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical methods; OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification; fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification; connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation; patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement; installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling; identification and troubleshooting of impairments; documentation of test results and splicing records.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities.
• Maintain professionalism with clients and project stakeholders.
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory depending on your availability; NOT FULL TIME.
