Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our growing national client base. You will perform fiber testing, fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fault isolation across varied environments such as retail, medical, and data centers.

This 1099 contractor role requires independent work, professional conduct with clients, and the ability to cover a broad territory. Training and travel pay are provided where applicable.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one of: FOA, CFOT, BICSI, Network+, or 5+ years field experience.
• Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license; must have standard fiber/telecom tools.
• Laptop and smartphone for documenting test results and project docs.
• Availability for service requests within coverage territory, not full-time.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic testing and splicing with fusion and mechanical methods.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling.
• Document test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments (retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecom, data center).
