Job summary

Stand8 Technology Consulting is seeking a Field Service Technician III - Fiber Telecommunications for a contract position in the Richmond, VA area. You will install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot mission-critical fiber optic telecom infrastructure across data centers and carrier hotels.

The role requires 4+ years of field experience, DWDM/Sonet/TDM/Ethernet/IP transport experience, OTDR testing, and the ability to lift 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years of hands-on telecommunications field experience.
• Experience with DWDM, SONET, TDM, Ethernet, or IP transport.
• Experience performing OTDR testing and turn-ups.
• Strong troubleshooting and field installation skills.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Ability to pass background screening.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain telecom network equipment.
• Perform OTDR, Ethernet, BER, and SONET tests.
• Install and test fiber patch cords.
• Turn up and troubleshoot DWDM, SONET, TDM, IP, and Ethernet equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot outages and transport network issues.
• Travel throughout Richmond and surrounding areas, with occasional overnight travel.
• Maintain schedule flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency restoration activities.
